Poor sound insulation in bedroom. Could hear water running in neighbouring bedrooms/bathrooms and people in the bedroom above ours.

Old building with newer wing. Nice garden. Polite staff. Restaurant served tasty food nicely presented.

Hotel website and Booking .com might have had a street map indicating one way roads for anyone without satnav. No mention either from Reception or literature in the room, of how to connect to Wifi and how to raise the car park barrier to exit. Room lights over the bed were not quite adequate to read in bed. No safe in the room. No literature in the room to warn that tv, when off, would show a red light. No literature offered at reception or in the room for tourists offering town centre street plan or tourist information or websites offering that information. Location of tourist information office would help. The dinner menu was available at Reception, but nowhere did we see information about what was offered at lunchtime.

Mattresses a little firm and older spring style- easy to upgrade to a memory foam these days. Room decor lacking at bit and overall this older property is showing its age- however there were updates and paint happening in various parts that means management is working on things.

Great property and perfect walking to town and area- the garden was by far the highlight- what a gem to relax in and within the city.

Could have better selection for breakfast including porridge. More staff on the breakfast shift.

Was not happy on arrival at the reception desk to be greeted by a person who was not well trained in customer service and how to welcome a guest. Even though I had paid when booking was told I had to pay £60 up front to cover bar costs even when had no intention of using it. As a solo traveler I would be hard pressed to spend that much. I was also told even though breakfast was between a certain time that I had to give a time I was coming for it. Nobody was available to show guests to their rooms and help carry luggage and the receptionist did not give information about the restaurant for an evening meal or to advise about Winchester and hand out a map of places to visit which I thought was poor.

The property was in a good location within the centre of Winchester within easy access to all locations.

Some wear and tear on room, bathroom door quite chipped and sink I believe needed unblocking - slow to drain.

Towel rail in the bathroom was on super intensive heat (which backed on to our bed) with no seeming way to turn it off - did mention to staff A bit of an up and down trek to our room But that's it!!

Such friendly staff Large bedroom with comfortable bed Location - literally 50 yards from the High Street Handy parking absolutely no problem about a charge given how central it was The walled garden - unfortunately it rained most of the time but the thought of sitting there as the sun would be going down with a cool glass of wine would be brilliant when the weather was better So close to so many sights, most of my favourite stores were there
